Smoke alarms save lives. It can't be repeated enough and having a working means of fire detection can make the difference between life and death. It isn't just the fire, but the smoke can and does kill people every year. Relying on the fact that you would wake should your home be on fire would wake you is not a reliable method of protecting yourself or your family. Even if you are a light sleeper, a few lungfulls of smoke and you won't wake up.

Protecting your home and family isn't difficult. Most NASIC members are fully qualified and accredited to install and service domestic fire prevention and detection systems. Something as simple as a reliable smoke detector won't cost you very much at all, or you could opt for a home sprinkler system to actively fight fire. If you are renting a property, the law states that you must have a mains powered smoke alarm fitted and have it checked annually by an accredited engineer. Many of our members are BAFE (British Approvals for Fire Equipment) accredited and can offer cost-effective inspection and maintenance.
